The chakra gives the strength to survive, with the strength to assert oneself. It represents our connection with Mother Earth and its fundamental action consists in rooting in matter including the fundamental needs essential to life: material, physical and terrestrial. Swadhisthana
 |
Swadhisthana or the Sacral Chakra is the 2nd of the 7 primary Chakras. Along with the 1st and 3rd Chakras, the Swadhisthana Chakra is more of a physical nature. Swadhisthana means ‘dwelling of oneself’. Swadhisthana Chakra like the other major energy centres is in alignment with the spine; it is located 2 inches below the navel. The energies of this Chakra influences emotions, sexuality, passion and desires. It stimulates artistic creativity and promotes the relationship with money and work. The opening of this energy center makes it possible to facilitate contact with others and to become aware of one's own emotions. The imbalance or the blockage at the level of this Chakra can result in the lack of motivation, the decrease of the libido or the lack of assurance. As the Swadhisthana Chakra is the seat of physical well-being, it is essential to keep it in balance, to feel good about yourself, to feel your emotions, to be creative and to learn with different challenges of life. When this Chakra is not sufficiently open or completely blocked, this results in a lack of self-esteem, a withdrawal into oneself or even lack of taste for life. On the other hand, an overactive Swadhisthana Chakra can lead a person to have an obsession for sexuality and a tendency to encroach the boundaries of others. Maintaining the 2nd chakra in balance is therefore essential since it allows you to find the joy of living, not to fall into excess as well as withdrawal into oneself, or even a lack of empathy.

Manipura
 |
Manipura or the Solar Plexus Chakra is the third of the 7 main chakras, aligned along the spine. Its location is on the Navel. Like the first two Chakras the Manipura Chakra is the third and last Chakra which is associated more with the physical dimensions of the Universe. The name Manipura means ‘City of Jewels’, this chakra is the source of personal power, determination and the ability to act. Manipura Chakra is associated with the awareness of the self and the mind. Symbolizing solar energy within the individual, this Chakra is the seat of will power and personal responsibility. Imbalance or blockages at the level of the third chakra can mean the inability to stand out from the crowd or an exacerbated will to always be right. The harmonization of the 3rd chakra leads to a state of consciousness on respect for oneself and that of others, to have a taste for life and physical activities. Its imbalance can therefore be the reason for lack of fighting spirit in a person or the source of an oversized ego. On a physical level, the solar plexus chakra acts on the digestive system and it manages the functioning of the stomach. When the Solar Plexus Chakra is balanced, a person is aware of personal opinions and he honours the opinions of others. He is independent and a leader in his own right. But an overactive Manipura Chakra will lead to having desire to always be right, pride and the desire to dominate others or feel overly responsible for others. When the Manipura Chakra is underactive, it leads to emotional susceptibility, a tendency to underestimate one's own capacities or even the lack of will to move forward and realize one's dreams. It develops a tendency to be dependent on others and lose vision and foresight to plan and seek for oneself.

Anahata mean ‘not struck’ and is located at the end of the central sternum. It ensures the connection between the physical body and the emotions and feelings. The 4th Chakra is primarily associated with the qualities of the heart such as love, compassion and trust. The Heart Chakra is the energy centre, seat of love, in all its forms, the one we receive, the one we can give, divine love and by extension the love of all beings. It influences all feelings in relation to love, allowing the connection between the intellect and emotions. Its opening therefore makes it possible to feel peaceful, sympathetic, or empathetic, or even be in agreement with oneself and with others. When this Chakra is perfectly balanced, it is expressed by an awareness of compassion, the desire to take care of others and to express our true nature. A blocked or imbalanced Heart chakra can result in withdrawal or the need to be constantly reassured, fear of commitment, selfishness or the inability to love or trust others and cause diseases and problems related to the heart, blood circulation and issues such as asthma or allergies. An over-active Anahata Chakra leads to extremes which cause the person to seek acknowledgment for himself, excessive obsession in love, low self-worth and feeling of being exploited and cheated by others.
